
Meet the Founder:
Carrie Speiser, MPA
Youth Empowerment Activist

Carrie Speiser is a passionate visionary leader and activist, she's been inspiring and educating teens and those who support them through violence prevention since she was a teen in high school! She has over 15 years of expertise in the primary prevention field educating about dating abuse, domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, child abuse, and has expertise in trauma, resilience, and personal development.

The Spark that Lit Her Passion
​
After Carrie experienced an abusive relationship in high school she, with a few friends, co-founded an all volunteer organization called TEAR (Teens Experiencing Abusive Relationships). TEAR became a national phenomenon featured in Cosmogirl! Magazine, as well as on TV on Today, the Tyra Banks Show, Montel Williams, and CNN. Aside from the national media, TEAR won the Best Youth Services Award from the state of NJ Child Assault Prevention Project in 2005. She educated thousands of youth and adults and received a grant to create the TEAR Curriculum for dating abuse education, which sold nationally. She was also a keynote speaker at the Decade for Change Summit a national domestic violence summit.

Education
​
Carrie received a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from the University of Hartford. She also has a Master of Public Administration for Nonprofit Management from Seton Hall University. She was recognized by both alma maters for her work through TEAR.
​
Career in Violence Prevention
Carrie has since worked with multiple statewide organizations and has remained passionate about working with youth. She has created training curricula for trauma-informed initiatives for the Child Wellness Institute. Additionally, she has also trained facilitators nationally for the My Life My Choice Curriculum in partnership with the Justice Resource Institute. She is certified to train on several curricula for both adolescents and adults.
